Peter La Fond

Peter La Fond is the Founder and CEO of My Internet Scout, LLC, a digital marketing firm serving businesses of all sizes in locations across the country.
Peter graduated from California State University, Sacramento in 1994. Peter’s high technology career has spanned across two decades in Silicon Valley. He’s worked for various sized high technology firms, ranging from start-up to Fortune 500. Peter has employed the WordPress engine as the exclusive platform for the websites his firm develops. In addition, Peter is the Founder of the San Jose WordPress Meetup.
In 2015, Peter moved to Wilmington from Silicon Valley. Although his Silicon Valley roots run deep, he loves Wilmington. Peter, his wife, and two dogs are happy to call Wilmington home.

Nivan Morgan

As a web developer, I’m on a mission to empower people and startups, which got me started on developing with WP. I believe in the power of open source and platforms like WP, which have given individuals & startups full control over their websites. I started out as a freelancer working from HQ Community in Raleigh. Recently, I moved to Wilmington, NC any was lucky to work with DesignLoud Inc., a successful Web Design startup developing WP websites, from TekMountain, the first startup incubator in the Wilmington. They both will be sponsoring & organizing this WordCamp event.

My goal for the future is to use WordPress to create a network of sites for young developers and teach kids how to code. My website is Raleigh’s Web

Blake Baxendell

Blake Baxendell is currently a web developer for Consultwebs.com®. He has been in the Wilmington development community for roughly ten years now, he has had experience with WordPress for roughly 9 out of the 10 years WordPress has been around. His skills with WordPress consist of building plugins, backend coding, front-end development, and technical SEO.

Blake was born in Greenville, PA. He attended Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania where he received a Bachelor Science Degree in Communications: Emerging Technology. He has an extensive background in filming and photography too. Blake spends most of his free time with his wife and young girl.

Jeanne Casper

Jeanne Casper is a small business web design freelancer. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art, Jeanne began her digital design journey in graduate school, earning a master’s degree in Multimedia. From there she moved onto web design, web based software design, and for 10 years taught web design, animation, and graphic design software applications.

Currently she spends her time working in WordPress, helping small business owners, non-profits and individuals build online presence, and learn how to manage their websites.

Born and raised in Boston, MA she made her way to Wilmington, NC after a 7 year stint in Silicon Valley. She spends much of her free time enjoying the beach with her husband and two children.

Lauren Jeffcoat

I have been building WordPress websites for over seven years and currently am part of the WPML Customer Support team. I love building WordPress websites and have worn many hats in the world of web development including Project Manager, Customer Service Representative, Account Strategist, and Web Designer.

Originally from New England, I now live in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. I enjoy sharing my knowledge along with tips and tricks that I have learned either through furthering my education or personal experience.

I have been a speaker and organizer at a few conferences including The Grand Strand Tech Expo, New South Digital Conference, and Real Estate Software Seminars.

Derek Schmidt

Derek Schmidt considers himself a native to the Wilmington area. Shortly after 2 Derek’s family relocated to the area and he has not left since. Derek owns DesignLoud, a web design company in Wilmington, NC primarily working in custom and open source WordPress themes and plugins. Derek has a wife and 3 children and in his off time is known to play guitar, surf and read up on technology.
