Taking Submissions for Co-Organizers & Volunteers

Good news,  you can get involved with planning and co-organizing the first ever WordCamp Wilmington!  While we are excited to announce that we have been approved for a WordCamp, that is only the first step.  The success and value “campers” will receive for attending WordCamp is going to greatly depend on our organizing team.  So let’s take a look at who would make a good volunteer and if you are interested you can sign up here to volunteer.

A ideal candidate to volunteer would be…

If you or someone you know is involved in someway with WordPress and you are local to Wilmington (meaning you are able to regularly travel here) then that is a great start!  Becoming a co-organizer means you are willing to volunteer your time planning and organizing the WordCamp event.  We have received a list of duties from WordCamp which makes it easier to assign duties and roles to various volunteers.  Whether you have experience or not with planning events, you can still qualify to be a good candidate, especially if you have worked within committee’s and WordPress before.  Some of the duties a volunteer may have would be: budget, sponsorships, fundraising, food and beverage, etc.  Ideally each volunteer will have one role they are assigned to such as budget.  However depending on how may volunteers we have we may ask that you help with other parts as well if available.

Do you or someone you know think you would like to volunteer?  Click the button below to submit an application to become a co-organizer.

What is WordCamp?

WordCamp is an organization that is centered around bringing the WordPress community together.  This would range from anyone looking to get started with WordPress, business owners, designers and developers.  WordCamp’s are organized around the world from local volunteer’s with the support of the WordCamp organization.  Generally sessions will include various tracks aimed to teach and educate the community on WordPress.  This is a great opportunity to network within the community, ask questions and speak with other WordPress enthusiasts.  Here is a short video from a video series of a WordCamp in Atlanta, GA.
